Cryptography

The term Cryptography is the study of mathematical techniques related to aspects of information security such as confidentiality, data integrity, entity and data origin authentication. The technique used to deciphering the message without knowledge of enciphering  details known as Cryptanalysis. Cryptography and cryptanalysis together is known as Cryptology. The conversion of plain text to cipher text is known as enciphering or encryption process. Restoring the plain text from the cipher text is known as deciphering or decryption process. Where Plain text is original message and cipher text is coded message.

There are two major cryptographic methods. In secret key cryptography, the same key (or a copy thereof) is used to encrypt and decrypt the data. In public key cryptography, there are two different but related keys, and what is encrypted with one can only be decrypted by the other.

As increase in internet technology, information security (Cryptography) is becoming more important in data storage and transmission. The information may be in the form of text, Image, video, audio etc. Each type of information has its own features, therefore different cryptography techniques should be used to protect confidential data from unauthorized access.
